This is an American Standard “Monaco” wall mounted tank, toilet and pipe cover, circa 1929 with Art Deco style and influence. This toilet is in the glorious (American) Standard “Orchid of Vincennes” lavender/purple color and in excellent overall condition.
This set includes the bowl, the tank and lid, and the original vitreous china flush pipe housing (Patent #1669431) which has a patent date of May 15, 1928 on it, see photo. The American Standard company was formed in 1929 through the merger of the American Radiator Company and Standard Sanitary Manufacturing Company forming the American Radiator and Standard Sanitary Corporation. In 1950, the logo was changed to say American-Standard. In 1968, the hyphen was dropped from American Standard. The date stamped on the tank of this toilet is October 29, 1929, the day the stock market crashed.
