Tapio Wirkkala Utima Thule Iittalia Ice Glass Plate

Designed by Finnish artist Tapio Wirkkala, this vintage circa 1970s modern glass plate will make a striking table centerpiece or display piece on a coffee table. You can also use the Scandinavian art glass plate as a platter to serve special treats.

Tapio Veli Ilmari Wirkkala (2 June 1915 – 19 May 1985) was a Finnish designer and sculptor and a major figure of post-war design. Made in Finland, this plate is part of the Utima Thule Iittalia glass collection created by Wirkkala in 1968. Inspired by melting ice springs in Northern Finland, the unique ice glass technique makes organic natural shapes evocative of ice formations.
